Now you can chat with your fellow Smartphone and PPC users over Bluetooth!
This has been a long overdue project of mine. I started playing around with programming using the MS BT stack last October 2005. The first draft of this BT Chat was experienced by some members of airfagev during the Christmas eb last December 2005. And the program was tested on an Xphone2, Voyager, XDA Mini and XDAII. (Yes, this one works on a PPC 2003/2003SE! :-D)
As long as your device has a MS BT stack and is running on 2003/2003SE, this should work.
How to install? Just download the airfagev BT Chat.zip file below, extract on your PC, transfer to your device (e.g. Storage Card\Program Files\airfagev BT Chat\ folder), and run the airfagev BT Chat.exe (you may also want to create a shortcut of the exe file on your Start Menu.) Sorry, no cab file for this one.
If you already have airfagev mobile on your device, you may opt to download airfagev_BT_Chat_whithout_iconfiles.zip. Just extract the zip file and place the extracted files on your airfagev mobile folder. And, just run the airfagev BT Chat.exe file (or create a shortcut on your Start Menu). In this case, you won't have to have two instances of the icon files used for the smileys on your device.
NOTE: If you want to chat and receive messages only from those BT devices you have already "bonded/paired" with, don't set your BT to "discoverable".

so far 10meters lang talaga ang layo na na-test ko.. cguro depende na rin sa BT ng device... but cguro mga minor adjustments(more on UI...hehehe) astig na astig na 'to!

i tested it up to 20 meters. of course i was chatting with my PC on my room upstairs. hehe
yes, the range really depends on your BT device. :-)

yes, my XDAIIs is WM5, so i can't really use this app on it. so, i'm making a WM5 version. thanks for all your appreciations. :-)

Btw, I have another nice idea. How about making a "walkie-talkie" bluetooth program that allows voicechats via bluetooth. That would be perfect. :-)

Gud day greatbal, how can I get this prog work? try ko sa dalawang voyager, pero isa lng nmn nakakasend, isang phone lng nakakadetect even if I use Detect Devices Menu. Both phone Bluetooth Settings are set to "On", Thanks! - Emmanuel

if both bluetooth are set to on, you must do manual pairing of the devices first.
just go to Settings/Bluetooth/BLuetooth/Menu/Devices/Menu/New, and follow instructions.

otherwise, you can try running BT Chat with BLuetooth set to "discoverable" on both devices. :)

Are you still going to write the WM5 version of this bt chat? Because I think it is a great app, but it doesn't work on my wm5 device :(

re Broadcomm BT stack, sorry i won't be releasing a version that supports it.
i use MS BT stack because the development tool for it is available for free. hehe

If it helps a little, then I can say that after testing this app (BT Chat) on my WM5 device I can send always one message from one device to another and it works, but the second one never. To send the second communicate I have to close the app and open it once again on both devices. Thanks for providing such great apps to the smartphone commnity. Keep up the good work!

downloaded gridview change it defaults to my accessory folder, and changes only that folder,,rest of icons still remain should i save it elsewhere?
